Buckwheat Flour

Buckwheat flour from a crop grown on the Spring Street field.  Buckwheat flour enhances smoothness and texture in quick breads like pancakes, muffins, and cookies.  This is the first time we are selling buckwheat.
 
The buckwheat was planted as a cover crop following the harvest of Goldcoin in July.  Buckwheat can be a little tricky to harvest, since it produces flowers pretty much continuously once it matures.  But a timely frost in October terminated the crop, and then it was harvested normally.  The planting and harvest was done entirely by my friend Ron, using his antique John Deere equipment.  This buckwheat is of unknown provenance, it's just ordinary cover crop seed used by farmers in our area.
