Milder flavor than other Turkeys, but still leagues ahead of anything available in the store. A really nice all-around flour.
In the Field
Krymka is a Ukrainian landrace selection that was first preseved by Russian botanists in the 1920s. Turkey Red, the most famous winter wheat of all, is thought to be descended from Krymka and other landraces from the Crimean region. Knowing this, we chose to grow out Krymka as a way of learning more about Turkey. As you might expect from a landrace selection, Krymka is a robust grower. In dry years, wet years, and in-between years, Krymka has been an easy-keeper. We probably won't grow this every year, but we brought it to market so that everyone could experience an honest, old-world landrace wheat selection.
